Two Yalies have made an app that will help you get your dream job
It’s called Career Catcher
Yalies helping other Yalies out – it’s what we do best, right? If you have a reason to doubt our altruistic tendencies, doubt no more.
These two Yale students have made that time you gave your best friend the answers to the econ pset five minutes before class look like a drop in the ocean. So, what’s the big deal?
Rohan Misra and his sister Reeva have just launched Career Catcher, an awesome new app that puts Yalies in the best position possible to land their dream jobs, even if you’re NOT going into finance or consulting (crazy, I know).
What does it do?
Career Catcher pairs up Yale students looking for career advice, interview tips, or just a push in the right direction, with other Yalies who really know what they’re talking about. You want a job at Google, but don’t know if you’d fit the mold? You heard back from that real estate firm in NYC, but don’t even know where to start when it comes to prepping for the interview?
Well, you can stop stressing out about your lack of transferable skills, quit checking out reviews on GlassDoor, take a deep breath, and talk to someone with real industry knowhow.
Who are Rohan and Reeva?
Rohan is a senior math major in BK. He’s been there and done it when it comes to interview prep and job apps and he wants to help Yalies make better decisions about their futures.
Reeva is Rohan’s older sister. She did her undergrad in Experimental Psychology across the pond at Oxford University in the UK. Now she’s joined her brother at Yale where she’s studying for her Masters at the Jackson Institute. She is interested in how technology can be used for human rights issues.
Why is Career Catcher so special?
Having spent some time discussing the motivation behind Career Catcher with Rohan the day before the site’s big launch, it was pretty obvious to me that these two siblings mean business (no pun intended). They’re professional, they’re motivated, and most of all they really care about helping Yalies succeed. Career Catcher is unique and offers Yale undergrad and grad students a simple way to make the most of the diverse student body that surrounds them.
What does it look like?
I have to say I’m pretty surprised by how snazzy the website is. It’s sleek, modern, and most importantly, simple (precisely what we need after enduring the soul-destroying task of searching for an internship on Symplicity). Don’t believe me? Take a look for yourself.
It takes less than five minutes, three easy steps, and just your yale.edu email address to sign up as an “applicant” or “advisor” on Career Catcher.
Like what you see and want to be a part of this new social network on Yale’s campus?
Sign up here and turn your career aspirations into a reality. (Believe me, it’s better than LinkedIn).
