Yale is the best college in America for student outcomes
According to the Wall Street Journal
In the inaugural Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings, Yale placed first in student outcomes and fifth overall.
As reporters Melissa Korn and Douglas Belkin explained, if you’re “focused on how well you’ll do after graduation, you can’t do better than Yale.”
The “student outcomes” ranking takes into account graduation rate, value added to graduate salary, value added to the loan repayment rate and academic reputation.
These criteria account for 40 percent of a school’s overall ranking, while the other 60 percent of a school’s rank is derived from its resources (30 percent), engagement (20 percent), and environment (10 percent).
Unlike other college rankings, the WSJ’s list does not factor in a school’s selectivity, but does take into account socioeconomic and racial diversity.
Stanford achieved the top spot in the overall rankings with MIT in the number two spots. Both Columbia and Penn achieved higher scores than Yale, placing third and fourth respectively.
Harvard’s ego took a blow as the school was listed sixth overall. It’s not all bad news for the Crimson, though: Harvard ranked first in terms of resources- – proving money can buy your way to the top in at least one category.
