They’re being a bit joyless about the Night Tube

Tfl expecting a ‘rowdy’ environment

There is much that is contentious about the night Tube – least of all, whether it’ll even happen. Also: whether it’ll register as a measurable improvement to our lives, or whether it will just be a heady hellscape of drunks pissing on themselves and each other.

Or that’s what the adults who don’t have to use it think, anyway.

Some people are also worried about crime. Today, The London Assembly’s Police and Crime Committee released a report that identifies twelve London stations that are at risk of increased crime and anti-social behaviour when the night service launches.

The list includes a mix of residential and central London stations. These are the stations named in the report:

  • Camden Town
  • London Bridge
  • North Greenwich
  • Vauxhall
  • Brixton
  • Waterloo
  • Oxford Circus
  • Leicester Square
  • Piccadilly Circus
  • Charing Cross
  • Victoria
  • Hammersmith

TfL also talked about the risk of a “rowdy environment”. “Rowdy”. The Met promises there’ll be extra police at key stations, including the above 12 to counteract this. So hide your tinnies.
