Memorial fund for UT Austin stab victim Harrison Brown raises thousands of dollars
‘We are Longhorns. We are one. We are the University of Texas’
A fundraising page for Harrison Brown, the UT Austin student who died yesterday in a vicious stab attack, has already raised tens of thousands of dollars in just a few hours.
The GoFundMe, which is called the “Harrison Brown Memorial Fund” has picked up over $36,000 since it was launched late last night.
The creator of the page, UT freshman Hendrick Liaw, explained the money will help serve as a memorial fund for Harrison’s family.
Hendrick wrote:
“Today, our community was struck with a tragedy that shook us all. We saw three injuries and lost a fellow student today, and I want to find a way to help them. I started this GoFundMe to help pay for the Harrison Brown Memorial Fund. I have been put into contact with the family, and I will donate everything given to the GoFundMe to the Brown Family by allowing them to withdraw it all, not myself. I will be meeting up with them to deliver the funds, and I assure anyone who does not trust me that picture will be taken for assurance. We are Longhorns. We are one. We are the University of Texas.”
Update 12:13 PM – the GoFundMe has hit $50,000.
