Revealed: The universities with the highest starting salaries

Good news for the Russell Group, but not all of them

| UPDATED

Paying £9,000 a year for a degree is all worth it – if you’re going to a university that will fetch you a £30k salary when you graduate that is.

While your course has a serious bearing on how much you’ll earn when you finish uni, the trend that Russell Group establishments give you better prospects has almost been broken. A degree from Loughborough – famous for sports and boys – will get you £24,884-a-year. Three years at City in London will make you a little more at £25,456. And a degree from Leicester’s former polytechnic De Montfort will mean you’ll get paid £26,670 – only £500 less than Oxford.

Still though, the hub of science and engineering Imperial takes top spot. Students here on average earn £33,951 when they start their first job. LSE, a university specifically designed to create the world’s next wave of financial gurus and CEOs, students will earn £33,406 when they start work. They’re not that closely followed by Cambridge, with an average graduate salary of £39,385.

So how quickly will you get rid of your mountain of debt and finally see your bank account in the black?
