Oh My GOD!!!! A Gossip Girl reboot might be in the works
HEY THERE UPPER EAST SIDERS, GUESS WHAT?!
A Gossip Girl reboot has just been confirmed to being discussed by CW producers. And all of our Upper East Side dreams are about to come true.
After the explosive final episode in 2012, we have been waiting SEVEN YEARS for this.
CW President, Mark Pedowitz, says “There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet.” At the TV Critics’ Association press tour, he said, “I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and Josh and Steph”.
Gossip Girl executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are big names in the CW, creating classics like The OC, Valley Girls and the newest addition, Dynasty. Pedowitz even said, “you don’t want to do anything without them.”
The producers, however, are definitely not what fans are most interested in. The bigger question is – will Blake Lively and Leighton Meester return? Is it even Gossip Girl without the original cast of Chuck, Blair, Serena, Dan and Nate? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
Leighton Meester, who plays Blair in the show, said to Vanity Fair: “I guess I hear that in fits and starts here and there, but it’s hard to say. If everyone was into it and if the timing was right, you know? I don’t want to say, ‘No, never.'”
Blake Lively told Variety, “It sort of all depends. Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it’s hard work and I’ve got my babies, and I don’t want to be away from them that much. But I’ve just learned in life you never say never. I’m looking to do something that I haven’t done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows—if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City.”
So let’s all hope our favourite Upper East Siders take back their roles and stop a new cast from hitting our screens. I hate to say it, but Blair and Serena 2.0 would officially ruin Gossip Girl for good.
