This is who is singing *that* song in the new John Lewis Christmas advert
I know you cried too, it’s fine
The John Lewis & Partners Christmas advert 2019 is here. Which can only mean one thing: it’s officially Christmas!!! Of course, the advert is extremely wholesome and you’ll probably need some tissues – but a stand out part is definitely the song. Leaving the question, who sings in the new John Lewis advert?
What is the John Lewis & Partners Christmas advert 2019 about?
This year’s Christmas advert is all about #ExcitableEdgar. Excitable Edgar is really cute dragon, accompanied by a young girl called Ava. As they’re walking into town, Edgar melts a snowman with his dragon fire. Then he sets fire to the outdoor ice rink, melting it away. Then he sets alight the village’s all new Christmas tree. It’s not long before Edgar is public enemy number one.
He goes into hiding and Ava waits outside his house until he comes out again. Then she buys him a present and he finally emerges. Ava takes him for Christmas dinner with all the villagers, who are obviously very scared he’s going to burn the place down. But Edgar uses his dragon fire skills to light the Christmas pudding. It’s 10/10 for cuteness.
Who sings in the new John Lewis advert?
After watching the ad, if you haven’t nailed what the song is or who’s singing it – it will ruin your Christmas until you find out.
The original song is Can’t Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon. For the John Lewis 2019 advert the song has been covered by Bastille’s Dan Smith. His version is a stripped back piano cover, which will probably be top of the download charts from now until the new year.
If you haven’t seen it already, here’s the advert:
