BREAKING: McDonald’s is reopening 15 branches for delivery from 13th May
I just miss it so much
McDonald’s will be opening 15 of its UK restaurants for delivery only from 13th May.
The branches will operate with limited menus, and have perspex screens installed at checkouts.
Staff will be provided with PPE and customers encouraged to pay by card.
McDonald’s has not said which branches will be reopening, however a full list will be released soon.
Deliveries will also be available between 11am and 10pm, whilst you can also order through Uber Eats.
However, the limited menu will include the Big Mac, Chicken Nuggets, Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Filet-O-Fish, and Mozarella Dippers.
The McFlurry is also returning – but only with the “core” Oreo, Maltesers, and Smarties varieties.
Early indications are that the Chicken Legend will be absent from this initial line-up.
Paul Pomroy, McDonald’s UK and Ireland CEO, said in a statement: “In March we took the decision to temporarily close our restaurants in the UK and Ireland for the safety of our employees and customers.
“Recently, we began working through a potential and limited reopening and I wanted to share with you an update that we shared with our franchisees and 135,000 employees earlier today.
“As part of our reopening planning, we have been listening to you and our employees, and we have worked closely with UK and Irish governments and trade bodies to help ensure we do this responsibly.
“We have deliberately taken our time, we want to get this right.”
Don’t get too excited though. No, really – Greggs were forced to scrap their trial reopening after an overwhelming social media reaction made them realise they wouldn’t be able to test the effectiveness of social distancing techniques.
