Netflix announces New York Mafia doc and it’s by the producers of Don’t F**k With Cats

Hayley SoenNetflix has just announced another documentary coming this month – this one about the New York Mafia, called Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia. And what’s more, it’s by the producers of one of Netflix’s most shocking true crime documentaries ever, Don’t F**k With Cats.
Fear City: New York vs. The Mafia is a new three-part documentary series about the Mafia takedown in NY during the ’70s. Netflix describes it by saying: “Think a real-life The Sopranos from the producers of Don’t F**k With Cats.”

Fear City: New York vs The Mafia will include under cover recordings from criminal families
In the 1970s, the Mafia is said to have owned New York City, it was untouchable. The FBI is said to have completely lost control, and it became the “golden era of the mob”. The crimes the Mafia were involved in, such as underworld operations like drug trafficking, loan-sharking and murder, were all known to the law enforcements, but nothing could be done to stop them.
At the time, the FBI bugged five of the biggest criminal families: The Gambino family, the Genovese family, the Colombo family, the Lucchese family and the Bonanno family. Now, for the very first time, this Netflix Original documentary allows the public to hear these secret tapes and the shocking revelations that came from them.
The documentary series promises: “The inside story of the rise and fall of New York’s most powerful Mafia families and the end of the golden era of the Mob. With the full might of the FBI and an army of undercover agents, witness the bugging, the investigation, and the era-defining conclusion of the historic Mafia Commission Trial that changed everything.”
The Netflix synopsis for the show reads: “Five Mafia families ruled New York with a bloody fist in the 1970s and ’80s, until a group of federal agents tried the unthinkable: taking them down.”
