So it turns out Drag Race UK queen Ginny Lemon was on X Factor, and it’s iconic
They even asked Simon if he ‘fancied a slice’
It turns out if you watched the first episode of Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK last week, you definitely recognised one of the queens from somewhere else. That’s right, Ginny Lemon auditioned for X Factor was back in 2017.
Ginny sung Liberty X’s Just A Little whilst in a fully yellow outfit (save for the blue eyebrows) and it was, obviously, iconic.
When Simon Cowell asked “who are you?”, Ginny even responded with their catchphrase: “I’m Ginny Lemon, fancy a slice?”
Watch the vid of Ginny Lemon on X Factor for yourself here:
Whilst on X Factor, Ginny Lemon said they’re from “Worcester, just like the sauce”, aged 28 and working in human resources.
From the video it looks like Sharon Osbourne was loving Ginny’s performance, but Simon and Louis Walsh just look a bit confused. How rude of them.
Sharon said Ginny was a “great visual performer” (correct), but needed to “tone it down” (wrong).
Ginny Lemon then went through to the X Factor bootcamp wearing all-neon pink, and sung You Spin Me Right Round with the rest of the group they’d been put with.
To be frank it looks like it was a slight train wreck, but we’ll blame the rest of Ginny’s group for that.
Sadly Ginny didn’t make it past the bootcamp stage.
Fellow Drag Race UK season two contestant Tia Kofi (who dubbed herself the Queen of Clapham) was also on X Factor, in 2016 with her band of fellow drag queens.
With her band The Vixens, Tia Kofi sung Little Mix’s Word Up. She is also a Nottingham Uni alum, and starred in a jokes SU election promo video during her time there.
