Just when we were all thinking Celebs Go Dating was the trashiest TV going with such highly esteemed guests as Stephen Bear and Pete Wicks, they announced that they were making the latest series in a mansion. Yeah, so what? Well, what nobody expected was that this place was actually going to be a full-on, behemoth of a place with a list price of £30million – and if the photos of this place are anything to go by, it’s likely they’ve really maxed out the budget to make the setting as impressive as possible.
So, although we’ve only really seen the foyer and side room of the grand house so far this series, let’s take a look through the rest of the house and try and work out at what makes it deserving of such a hefty price tag.
The mansion is located in Godalming in Surrey, where it’s got enough room to house a large family and then some. With nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, two swimming pools, a tennis court, an indoor bowling alley and a home cinema – all set on 30 acres of land – this place is absolutely ridiculous.
“The first floor features 5 bedroom suites, each benefitting from views of the gardens and parkland,” the listing reveals. “On the second floor, there are a further 4 bedroom suites, both floors being serviced by a lift from the ground floor. The master bedroom suite features an oversized bedroom with separate his and hers bathrooms and appointed dressing rooms.”
“Annexed to the house is an array of leisure facilities. The party room features a limestone fireplace and gallery above. On one side is the games room, an indoor bowling alley and home cinema. On the other is a snug and a sun room with doors leading out to the terrace.
“The indoor swimming pool includes a spa bath and steam room. Above is a gymnasium with a treatment room, a staff flat and a teenager’s dormitory.” A teenager’s dormitory. A TEENAGER’S DORMITORY.
If the £30 million price tag wasn’t possibly eye-watering enough for any prospective buyer, the listing for the property also reveals that the mansion comes unfurnished for whoever has deep enough pockets – so a lot more will need to be spent just to make the place liveable.
Naturally, the celebs have been making the most of being housed in such a grand surrounding by posting as many pictures as possible for their adoring Instagram followers – with Sophie Hermann being the primary offender.
At least we can see that they’re indeed letting the celebs venture further into the grounds and that it’s not just the main stairway that they’re allowed to loiter around, although that may be due to the rest of the place being unfurnished.
