If there’s one film this year you absolutely need to see, it’s Boiling Point. I’d recommend it to literally anyone if I could. I was extremely lucky to watch Boiling Point in my local cinema: the Rio Cinema in Dalston. It’s a great indie cinema as it is, but what made watching Boiling Point at the Rio even better was the fact that the film was filmed at a restaurant about 20 yards down the road and the narrative is set in Dalston. Watching a film this good set where you live is just absolutely magic, and I’m so glad that Boiling Point now has a wide global release because it’s been added to Netflix. You need to watch it if you haven’t already – it’s a film that I described as: “Does for working in hospitality what Jaws did for sharks”. And Boiling Point is also a film with a cast that you recognise but can never put your finger on.

Stephen Graham as Andy

Stephen Graham takes the cast lead in the Philip Barantini directed film Boiling Point – playing head chef Andy. Andy lets his personal troubles spill over into his professional – as stresses rise on a big night for his upmarket East London restaurant. Stephen Graham is one of the best known actors in the country thanks to his roles in some of the biggest shows on British telly. He’s starred in This Is England, Line of Duty, Time, Boardwalk Empire and White House Farm.

He’s also had film roles in Pirates of the Caribbean and recently starred opposite fellow scouser Jodie Comer in Help.

Vinette Robinson as Carly

Vinette Robinson plays Carly, Andy’s second in command chef. She’s sick of covering for his chaos and getting treated poorly by Beth. Vinette is best known for her appearance on Black Mirror, Sherlock and for portraying Rosa Parks on Doctor Who.

Alice Feetham as Beth

Alice Feetham plays Beth – the manager of front of house who micromanages the kitchen and undermines their night and ends up extremely unpopular with the rest of the staff. She’s previously starred in Bancroft and in No Offence.

Hannah Walters as Emily

Hannah Walters plays Emily, the kind pastry chef. She’s also married to Stephen Graham in real life, and has previously starred in This Is England with her husband, and alongside Alice Feetham who plays Beth in No Offence. She also had a recurring role on ITV’s Whitechapel.

Jason Flemyng as Alastair Skye

Stephen Graham’s old co-star from Snatch plays his rival Alastair Skye in Boiling Point. Jason is a prolific actor, known for The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Jack the Ripper film From Hell and Black Mirror
