This is where the cast of Bridgerton on Netflix went to university
Two of them are Oxford grads!
The cast of Bridgerton are one of our favs of all time, but did you know a lot of them went to university before they hit the big time on the Netflix show? Yep, lots of the actors have brains, beauty and a spot on one of the best shows around right now, what a dream.
Two of the cast members went to Oxford, a couple dropped out of uni to pursue their acting dreams and some had very different career ideas whilst they were studying. Here is a list of the Bridgerton cast members who went to university, and where and what they studied.
Luke Thompson
Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton, studied at Bristol. He studied English and Drama at the University of Bristol and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, graduating in 2013.
Charithra Chandran
Charithra joins season two as Edwina, and she’s brains as well as the season’s diamond. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University, in 2019. During her time at uni she was in New College, and took part in a lot of productions. At the time acting was just a hobby, and it wasn’t until after her post-uni gap year that she decided to pursue it as a career.
Nicola Coughlan
Nicola plays fav Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton, and graduated with a degree in English and Classical Civilisation from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She then went on to train in England at the Oxford School of Drama and Birmingham School of Acting.
Calam Lynch
Calam Lynch is Theo Sharpe in season two and is another of the Bridgerton cast members who went to university, namely Oxford. He studied Classics at Somerville College, Oxford, graduating in 2017. He took part in stage productions whilst at uni, after being inspired by one of his cousins to take up acting. Originally, Calam had a keen interest in football as a potential career.
Adjoa Andoh
Lady Danbury herself also went to uni. Adjoa Andoh started studying Law at UWE in Bristol, but left after two years to pursue an acting career. She has since been named as a temporary professor at Oxford University. In 2021, it was announced she will be the University’s 29th Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre, a title attached to St Catherine’s College.
Ruby Barker
Ruby Barker was going to study International Relations at the London School of Economics (LSE) after taking a gap year, but decided to pursue drama instead. She now plays Marina Thompson in Bridgerton.
Ben Miller
Ben Miller was Lord Featherington in season one of Bridgerton. He was as an undergraduate at Cambridge University and studied Natural Sciences at St Catharine’s College. He then started a PHD in solid state physics, but scrapped it to be a comedian and actor. Whilst at uni he was in shows with Rachel Weisz, and dated her!
