Everything Ronan Keating has said about Jack being on Love Island

‘I’m just worried about him in there with all those other guys’

Former Boyzone member Ronan Keating has shared his honest thoughts on his son Jack Keating entering the Love Island villa as a Casa Amor contestant last week.

23-year-old social media marketer Jack joined Love Island on Friday evening as one of the six new boys sent into Casa Amor. Jack is Ronan’s oldest son, who he shares with ex-wife Yvonne Connolly, and Jack has one younger sister called Missy, who was previously rumoured as a Love Island contestant.

In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, Ronan said he was “nervous as hell” to watch Jack enter the villa and “when I saw him walk into the villa my heart was beating out of my chest. I’m excited for him though, this is something he wanted to do, and I’ll always support him and all my kids in their endeavours.”

Ronan has since been interviewed on the BBC’s The One Show on Monday evening where he said he was worried about his son and just wanted to protect him.

He said: “His episode last night, he was very quiet, he seemed a little bit nervous, which is understandable, I guess.

“I wish him the best. I hope he does OK. He’s got such a big heart and he’s a real softie so I’m just worried about him in there with all those other guys. He’s my boy and I just want to protect him.”

Ronan, who has since remarried, now has two younger children, with wife Storm Keating, who he said are missing their older brother at home.

Since the Islanders don’t have access to their phones whilst in the two week lockdown before entering the villa, Ronan said it had “been silence and then he appeared on the TV last night and it was really scary.”

Jack is not the only child of someone famous in the villa and he joined Michael Owen’s daughter Gemma for a conversation about their famous fathers by the pool in Sunday’s episode.

Whilst chatting to Gemma about his dad’s career, Jack said Ronan was now retired. Ronan told the hosts of the One Show, Jermaine Jenas and Alex Jones, he was “shocked” to hear Jack’s revelation and “nearly fell off his chair.”

However later in Jack’s conversation with Gemma he did mention his dad was currently on tour, which Ronan confirmed during his TV show appearance and said he was “definitely not retired!”

Jack’s mum Yvonne, has also shared her thoughts on Jack joining Love Island and said she is excited to watch him on the show.

She wrote on Instagram: “After the teaser I’m looking forward to watching Jack tonight on Love Island. Thank you so much for all your comments. All positive (can’t say the same for other platforms). So many people wishing Jack well and rooting for him. It means so much. My heart.”
