Netflix’s latest true crime is the dark twisted story of the ‘King of Revenge Porn’

The Most Hated Man on the Internet is from the creators of The Tinder Swindler

Netflix is currently full of spine tingling true crime documentaries, most recently The Girl In The Picture and Keep Sweet: Pray And Obey, and now the latest documentary, The Most Hated Man on the Internet, looks to be just as skin crawlingly twisted.

The Most Hated Man on the Internet drops on Netflix next week on 27th July and focuses on the self-proclaimed “King of Revenge Porn” aka Hunter Moore, the creator of revenge porn website Is Anyone Up? Moore spent a number of years going viral on the Internet after sharing huge numbers of nude images without the owner’s consent. Though people would often beg for their images to be taken down Moore kept them up, often bragging about his site.

This is everything you need to know about the Most Hated Man on the Internet, ahead of its release next week:

The King of Revenge Porn was taken down by the mother of one of his victims

In a style similar to that of Netflix’s documentary Don’t F*ck With Cats, The Most Hated Man on the Internet focuses on the story of Hunter Moore, the creator of Is Anyone Up? who was taken down by the mother of one of his victims.

In late 2010 Hunter Moore and his friends were receiving nude images from women they were seeing. He began a blog showcasing these photographs and photos from anyone else who would send them in. The blog eventually turned into Is Anyone Up? and soon people could submit their revenge porn images in just one click.

Moore developed a reputation for never taking the photos and videos down and often linked them to people’s social media accounts and provided their names and addresses. Over the 16 months the site was live, Moore called himself a “professional life ruiner” and compared himself to criminal Charles Manson.

Over the years he faced lawsuits, FBI investigations and was once stabbed in the shoulder with a pen by one of the victims who had their images shared without their consent.

It seemed like he was unstoppable in his quest for life ruining, until the mother of one of the victims, Charlotte Laws, decided to put an end to it. Laws spent two years tracking Moore down, speaking to 40 victims of the site and eventually turning in all her evidence to the FBI.

The trailer of the Most Hated Man on the Internet features a number of victims saying how the site made them feel “violated”, “humiliated” and Is Anyone Up? was about “destroying lives”.

Executive producer of the three part series, Alex Marengo, described the show as a “crusade for justice against all the odds wrapped up in a world of real-life and online depravity,” and said the aim of the series was to give a voice to Moore’s many victims.
