It’s happened! Here’s everything we know about the iconic return of Big Brother
I am shaking
Last night whilst the nation sat down to watch the coronation of our new King and Queen, Davide and Ekin-Su, ITV slung out a Big Brother 2023 advert and we all simply lost our minds. It was possibly one of the best nights of my life because Big Brother is a truly iconic show.
Big Brother gave us major names like Alison Hammond back in 2002 and provided endless laughs in its time. Instead of Channel 4 and 5, Big Brother will be shown on ITV2 and ITVX. So now it’s been confirmed, here’s absolutely everything we know about the return of Big Brother in 2023.
The house will have a whole new look
Just like every season, the Big Brother house will be looking a little different. The show release says: “The action will play out under the roof of the iconic Big Brother house, which will be given it’s own contemporary new look ready for this reimagining of the show.”
The season will include a selection of housemates from all walks of life who will life together for six weeks as the public watches on telly.
Live evictions will be back
Don’t you worry about that, all the tasks, nominations and live evictions will all be coming back and the public will be playing a role too. Apparently we will have the chance to vote throughout the series and essentially determine the winner who will walk away with a big cash prize.
Jedward have offered to host it
Irish duo Jedward have tweeted saying they should be the ones to host the new season of Big Brother. They also called themselves “iconic housemates” during their time in 2011 and 2017.
Paul Mortimer, Director of Reality Commissioning & Acquisitions and Controller, ITV2, ItvBe and CITV says: “This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience.
“We’re beyond excited to bring this iconic series to ITV2 and ITVX where it should especially engage with our younger viewers.”
Natalka Znak, CEO of creators Initial, Remarkable Entertainment and Znak TV says: “Big Brother is the original and best reality format and one that I have never made before so it’s a huge privilege to be making an all new version with ITV2 and ITVX.”
Big Brother was first aired on Channel 4 in 2000 and firmly embedded itself as one of the greatest British TV shows of all time. Fans are hoping for the return of Marcus Bentley, the narrator, and Davina McCall, Emma Willis and of course Rylan Clarke.
