The reviews are in for Donât Worry Darling and you may want to rethink going to watch it
One review said itâs lucky Harry Styles plans to focus on his musicđ
Donât Worry Darling had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and fans were eagerly waiting for reviews and honestly, they have been so savage. While some were distracted by the alleged feud between Olivia Wilde and Florence Pugh, others have been patiently waiting to find out if the film is even worth watch. From the looks of some of the reviews that have been published and its 45 per cent Rotten Tomatoes score, itâs looking as though it may not be worth the time to go and see it.
If youâre still unsure about booking your cinema tickets, have a read of these savage reviews about Donât Worry Darling:
âThis movie just isnât very goodâ
Brian Viner for the Daily Mail gave Donât Worry Darling two stars in his review of the film, saying itâs âlucky for usâ Harry plans to focus on music and not acting in the future. Yikes. Viner said the movie is a âshameâ because Florence Pugh âgives a fine, feisty performanceâ but the film itself is âat least three parts style, to one part substanceâ.
âItâs an empty shellâ
BBCâs review did not hold back either, especially when it came to sharing how Florence Pugh was let down with the material in the film. Steph Green said: âDonât Worry Darling offers her little chance to show audiences anything new.â No one seems to be impressed by Harryâs acting in this film, with Green saying his âfinest momentâ in the movie was when he got up to do a song and dance number.
âDonât Worry Darling might just be this yearâs festival trainwreckâ
The Independent wrote the movie was not the âdisaster that some predictedâ, but it was âmessyâ. In all the reviews, the focus seems to be on Harry Stylesâ performance and they arenât glowing. Geoffrey Macnab said: âStyles gives a surprisingly dull and low-wattage performance as Jackâ, just like his âdullâ character.
âItâs a movie marooned in a desert of unoriginalityâ
Peter Bradshaw for The Guardian rated the movie two stars, and said it âspoils its own ending simply by unveiling itâ. Well, it doesnât sound like the best start to a film. Despite the film being slightly interesting, when the big secret is finally revealed, Bradshaw described it as âabsurdly negligible and contrivedâ.
