Live: Everything that’s happening with the Queen right now, as it happens
SHOULD I BE WORRIED?
Right, everybody calm down. Buckingham Palace has announced the Queen’s doctors are keeping her under medical supervision, and are “concerned for her health.”
It sounds REALLY DRAMATIC, but what does this actually mean? Has the Queen been ill recently – or is she just getting old? Here’s a full rundown of her health problems over the last few months:
In February, the Queen suffered from Covid

On 20th February this year, the Queen tested positive for Covid-19, cancelling engagements while apparently suffering from “mild” symptoms. At the time, Prince Charles told a member of the public: “She’s a lot better now – it was very mild.”
In April, she met virtually with hospital staff at the Royal London Hospital to talk about her experience with the illness. She told them: “”It does leave one very tired and exhausted, doesn’t it? This horrible pandemic. It’s not a nice result.”
She cancelled duties in May because of mobility issues
Royal officials told the press in May that Prince Charles would be taking over from the Queen’s official royal duties. They said she was suffering from “episodic mobility issues,” without elaborating further.
The Queen has since been seen with a mobility aid a couple of times in public – including her first official meeting with Liz Truss on Tuesday (6th September).
Officials have said the Queen is being monitored at Balmoral

In the last couple of hours, Buckingham Palace has stated: “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”
Family members (including Harry) are rushing to be with her
Prince Charles, Prince William, Princess Anne are among the royals making their way to Balmoral at the moment. Even Harry, who was meant to finish up his UK tour today, has caught a plane straight to Scotland. Meghan and Kate won’t be going.
News is taking over the TV and presenters are wearing all-black
Regular programming has been suspended on BBC One until at least 6pm, which means wall-to-wall Queen coverage for the rest of the day. Newsreaders are all wearing black – preparing for royal protocol whenever a member of the family dies.
Princes William, Edward and Andrew have arrived in Aberdeen
While Meghan and Harry are yet to be confirmed on the flight to Scotland, we do know that Prince William (minus his family), Edward (along with his wife, Countess of Wessex) and Prince Andrew are aboard.
