‘They weren’t VIPs’: Read This Morning’s full, grovelling statement about The Queue
Phillip and Holly have received backlash for apparently queue-jumping
Over the weekend (17th September), This Morning released a statement surrounding Holly and Phillip’s alleged queue-hopping, while waiting to see the Queen lying-in-state.
The Queue gained infamy all over the country; with people memeing it, tweeting and even writing poems about it. As it reached its peak over the weekend (experts estimated people were spending 24 hours in line), bored queuers decided to celeb-spot while they waited.
Among A-listers like David Beckham and Sharon Osbourne, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were filmed on BBC’s livestream, seemingly standing away from everyone else. People started to speculate the pair had been given special treatment just because they’re on TV.

“My disabled mum was ushered out of @hollywills and @Schofe way so they could #queuejumpers w/o even a thanks #schofieldgate”, one Twitter user alleged.
“Can’t help wondering if Phillip Schofield will gatecrash the funeral today and tell Charles and Camilla to budge up on the pews and let them know that they have won the spin to win competition,” said another.
It wasn’t long before This Morning made a statement, apparently squashing the rumours.

“Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something,” it began. “We asked Phillip and Holly to be a part of a film for this Tuesday’s programme. They did not jump the queue, have VIP access or file past the Queen lying in state – but instead were there in a professional capacity as part of the world’s media to report on the event.”
Neither Holly or Phillip themselves have addressed the accusations yet.
