Engagements and becoming parents: Inside MAFS Australia’s Martha and Michael’s relationship

Martha and Michael proved to be relationship goals during their time on Married at First Sight Australia and they have only continued to do that. Since the experiment, the couple have moved in together and are even engaged! But what else have they been getting up to?

Here’s everything power couple Martha and Michael have been up to since taking part in the truly wild MAFS Australia experiment.

They welcomed their first child together in February 2023

At the end of February 2023, Martha and Michael announced the arrival of their baby boy and revealed his name on Instagram. “Lucius Brunelli. He’s here, he’s perfect,” Martha wrote alongside a photo of their newborn.

In August 2022, the couple confirmed they were expecting their first child after travelling across Europe together. After being away from social media for a while, the couple announced the exciting news.

“It’s been a minute since we’ve been online,” Michael began. “We wanted to explain our situation and make a little bit of an announcement, and that is that Martha is pregnant.”

“It hasn’t been this exciting wonderful time for us,” Martha explained. “I don’t want to sound like I am complaining, we are so excited, we are so happy. It was a complete surprise. But at five weeks I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, which is basically severe chronic nausea and vomiting with no relief.

“It is like 24/7. I literally did not get out of bed for two months, I was so sick. I could not eat or drink anything. There were days that I did not even get up to pee.”

Martha and Michael currently live together in Sydney

After MAFS Australia, Michael made sure to keep his promise of moving to Sydney to be with Martha and they now live together. The couple packed up their lives and moved into an apartment in Sydney’s Bondi Beach in 2020.

They spent a few months in 2022 travelling the world

After marking three years together, the pair announced they were moving to Europe to travel. “Martha and I spent some time making a big decision to move overseas for a while,” Michael said.

“We’ve had a few problems with our house and the fact that the world is essentially open again, we decided now is as good a time as any. It’s not a longterm move, but it’s a change we both wanted to experience.”

During their trip, that was cut short due to Martha’s pregnancy, the couple visited Italy, Turkey and the UK.

The couple are already thinking about their wedding

After being engaged for over a year, it makes sense they want to get married for real at some point. In an interview with 9Entertainment, the couple were asked if they had started to think about their wedding.

“The only thing for me is that I want Lucius to be involved,” Michael said. “If that means him walking down the aisle with the rings then that’s what we’ll wait for.”

Martha added: “I feel like, maybe we’ll have another baby before we have a wedding.”
