Beloved lecturer passes away

Dr Roy Allen of the Psychology department passed early yesterday morning.

He was known for his quirky lectures that he always started off with a picture of his dog.

His students were alerted by an email saying: “Dr Allen passed away this morning after a short illness.”

Dr Allen’s pupils had enormous respect for him

One student said: “He seemed like a very caring person and he was a good lecturer.”

Third-year Holly said:  “It was so shocking because Roy had become a fixture in my uni life. I didn’t believe that someone with so much life and personality wouldn’t be around any more.”

And the time he put into his students was hugely appreciated. Jonathan said: “Dr. Allen always put a great deal of effort into his lectures, to keep them both informative and still accessible for his students.

“He was also more than happy to stay a while after lectures to answer questions or put aside some time to meet a student who needed further explanation and expansion on what had been covered in the course.

“I personally will miss him greatly for the effort he put in and help he offered.”

His sense of humour will be missed by many. Kim said: “There was just something about him making perception bearable.

“I remember when he told us to boo people coming into the lecture late.”
