Titanic Belfast named ‘best tourist attraction’ in Europe

It even beat the Eiffel Tower

Found in the heart of Titanic Quarter, Titanic Belfast has won ‘best tourist attraction’ in Europe beating iconic landmarks the Eiffel Tower and London Eye.

The European Group Travel Awards (yep it is a real thing) were held in Berlin last Thursday to commemorate the best suppliers in the group travel sector and it was wee Northern Ireland that were the stars of the show.

hehehehehe ‘Tit’

Second year Music Technology student, Elisha Cunningham said: “Belfast has always been famous for building ships and the Titanic is probably the most famous ship in the world so of course this award is deserved.”

“It’s great that Belfast’s culture is being acknowledged throughout Europe.”

The museum was recognised for it’s nine galleries, using a combination of special effects, interactive features and full-scale reconstructions.

The building is designed to replicate the shape of the Titanic’s prows, although many have suggested the building resembles an equally famous iceberg.

Molly Stevenson, a Primary Education second year at St Mary’s and former employee of Titanic Belfast said: “It was an amazing place to work.

“The galleries are outstanding, the best I have seen in a museum.”

Come Josephine…to Titanic Belfast cus it’s well good innit

CEO of Tourism Ireland Niall Gibbons said: “Congratulations to Titanic Belfast on this very well deserved award. Since its opening in 2012, Titanic Belfast has become a truly iconic and ‘must visit’ attraction for overseas visitors to Belfast.”

Titanic Belfast was the only tourist attraction from across Ireland to be recognised at the European Group Travel Awards in Berlin.

Take that, Giant’s Causeway.
