Belfast BNOC Mannix McAlister mistaken for Boris Johnson by tourists
His scooter was nowhere to be seen
Scooter Boy, Mannix McAlister, was mistaken for Boris Johnson when tourists asked to take photos with him.
Belfast born, Mannix McAlister was at Buckingham Palace when he was mistaken for the London mayor by a group of tourists. To his bemusement, the crowd asked to take a series of pictures with him. Mannix told The Tab: “They came up to me and ask was I Boris and me and my friend just laughed. It was outside Buckingham Palace and completely out of the blue. The final two photos are the two I decided to get a photo of, there were about 20 photos with the group in ones and twos and eventually they got a photo of all of them together.”
Following the mixup, Mannix shared the photos on Facebook, posting: “Some tourists today asked if I was Boris I didn’t confirm or deny… They then wanted photos with me #YOLO”.
But this is not an unusual occurrence for Mannix, as he often is mistaken for the Tory politician. Mannix added: “There been a lot of times on the tube where I’ve been mistaken for Boris, and the day I took the tourists photos another older lady also mistook me. She was saying, “Are you Boris, I use Boris bikes all the time to get to work”. But it’s usually not that bad, I think it was because that I was wearing my dad’s jacket it might have made me look older.”
A few days later, Mannix was watching a street performer when the uncanny resemblance was once again brought up. “I was with a few friends in London watching a street performer and I decided to join in with the dancing. When he saw me he stopped the music and said on the mic “who does he look like?” And everyone said Boris”. When asked if he’ll be using this resemblance to his advantage, Mannix said: “Perhaps I’ll do some freelance work as an impersonator to fund my studies. Unfortunately I’ve not met Boris. I really admire him, but as I’m living in London I’m going to try if there is anything public he is doing.”
