Your parents are lame on Facebook
Why the older generation are a bit cringe on social media
Allowing your parents/older relatives to see your Facebook profile is a risky business. Sometimes it’s hard to tell whether or not they saw that photo of you grinding on the Jagermoose/bull thing, or, er pole dancing…
When my dad kept liking all of my photos from Freshers I was very tempted to delete him. But now he, and other relatives, are a highlight on my newsfeed.
It might sound a little harsh, but let’s face it: the older generation don’t really seem to get Facebook.
Like the way they unnecessarily sign off a comment even though you know it’s them:
And again:
Or when they post exciting status updates, such as this one:
Or this one:
FYI guys, it’s not Facebook chat- it’s called one to one
Discovering new emoticons is also exciting:
Forget games like Farmville- your Dad is probably too busy on Lawyerville:
The concept of pres is lost on them:
The only thing worse than having your parents on Facebook is when your grandparents get involved. The day my sister told me she’d set my Grandad up with a profile, I recoiled in horror. Then again, his inability to use it is both hilarious and a little heart warming.
Like when he communicates to us via a status:
And just this:
Then again, sometimes he has good bant…
Still, it’s better than supermarket updates:
So many supermarket updates…
Or how about a photo of a very old hoover, anybody?
Status updates can get very heated when X factor is on:
And you can always count on your parents for a status about Radio 4:
As much as they make us cringe, don’t delete your relatives on Facebook. Aside from the inevitable family feud that may ensue, it’s worth it just for the constant source of entertainment.
Sorry Dad.
