Car crash near Gisbert Kapp: Ambulance called for student cyclist

‘The windows of the car looked pretty badly smashed’

A cyclist was treated after a car crash on campus.

The incident occurred around 1.30 pm today, when a student was knocked off their bike at the left-hand turning near the Gisbert Kapp building.

The cause of the crash is unknown but an ambulance arrived at the scene soon after.

Speaking to The Tab, witness and second year lawyer Olivia, said: “I was driving to lectures when we were confronted by the scene of an accident in front of us.

“It looks like a student cyclist had been hit at the T-junction, and the window screen of the car looked pretty badly smashed.

“There was an ambulance at the scene and I think the cyclist must have been badly injured, judging by the damage done to both the car and bicycle.”
