What’s on: Halloween in Birmingham 2016

It’s that time of year again – the end of October is just round the corner and everyone is preparing their most original, horrifying costume yet. As it is no longer acceptable to go trick or treating, there are a several Halloween events you can attend in Birmingham to make it the best ‘All Hallows’ Eve’ you’ve ever had. The Tab has put together a list of everything happening on the Halloween weekend this year:

Nightmare on Broad Street

For the first time ever, the yearly ‘Nightmare on Broad Street’ will be on actual Halloween, Monday 31st October. This event has been running for 6 years now and gets better and better every year. Nightmare on Broad Street is a ‘club crawl’, so you get to experience all 5 clubs on Broad Street with one wristband. There are even freebies and prizes for the best fancy dress costume of the night.

Fab N Halloween

If a club crawl isn’t for you, then Fab N Fresh will be running on Halloween night as Fab N Halloween. Held at Joe’s Bar and the Guild’s ‘Underground’ night club, this is Birmingham’s best night for students. Why not celebrate Halloween at your students’ union where it’s close enough to walk home afterwards?

The Haunting

Birmingham’s biggest Halloween party at The Rainbow Venues is back yet again on October 29th. Hundreds of petrifying characters emerge for the yearly festival, The Haunting. There will be five entirely modified rooms, such as Haunted Circus, Black Magic, Voodoo Witchcraft and more. At the event, there will be over 50 actors, acrobats and performers, creating a dramatic show, with Wilkinson headlining.

Spookfest presents: The Twisted Circus

There will be a Spookfest rave at The Q Club this Halloween. This is one of the biggest indoor Halloween theatrical shows Birmingham has ever seen. SpookFest is more than a night out, as the event is set in a twisted big top with 20 performers, 40 DJs and 4 rooms of music. What’s even scarier, is that The Twisted Circus will be at the oldest and one of the most haunted venues in the country.

Ghost Tour at the New Alexandra Theatre

The New Alexandra Theatre is supposed to be one of the most possessed buildings in Birmingham, so they’re arranging ghost tours of the theatre and a lock-in on October 29th. You can visit the auditorium from 10:30pm until 3am. Halloween cocktails will be served in the piano bar and author Marq English will be hosting the tour and discussing the paranormal activity in the theatre.

28 Weeks Later zombie horror event

This is a zombie event based on the successful movie 28 Weeks Later. Organisers have disclosed that the starting point is Kidderminster train station. A cast of around 40 actors and one of the UK’s top fight choreographers are planning to take guests through extraordinary scenes of post-apocalyptic zombie hell.

Halloween Psychic Fair

Zen in Digbeth is throwing its annual Halloween Psychic Fair from 11am to 5pm on October 29. Admission is free, but other activities including readings – tarot, runes, palm, crystal ball – and treatments cost from £10 for 20 minutes.
