Birmingham told to prepare for snow

The coldest night of the year is upon us

The Met Office has told Birmingham to prepare for the coldest night of the year, with temperatures hitting 0 degrees celcius in the late hours of Monday the 7th of November.

It is expected that on Tuesday the frost will clear away for a bright morning but come mid afternoon Birmingham should expect possible rain and snow arriving later in the day, with the absolute maximum temperature of the day being a lowly 7 degrees.

Professor Adam Scaife, head of long-range prediction at the Met Office Hadley Centre, said: “Historical weather observations and our latest computer model simulations agree that these factors are increasing the risk of a cold start to winter for the UK.”

The chances of a continued streak of cold weather affecting Birmingham are at their highest since the winter of 2010/11, which saw the coldest winter in Birmingham in 100 years.
