Rainbow has its licence suspended after clubber dies

It happened at the Portal event on Sunday


19-year-old Michael Trueman died at a Halloween event at The Rainbow Venues that took place on Sunday.

Michael died after allegedly taking drugs.

He was discovered in a disoriented state by a security officer inside Rainbow at arround 11.30pm and was taken by ambulance to Heartlands Hospital. He died the following evening.

West Midlands Police has lodged an application for an expedited review of The Rainbow Live Music Venue on Wednesday and has had its license suspended.

Popular event Applebum which was meant to be hosted by Rainbow on Tuesday, however was moved to Scru club.

This week's Tektu event has also been cancelled.

The daytime event, hosted by The Portal and The Rainbow Venues, was on from 3pm until midnight.

This is the second drug-related death at Rainbow within two years. On New Years Eve, 2015 sniffer dogs and undercover security were brought in after 18-year-old Dylan Booth died from taking ecstacy.

Tektu will be hosted by Spotlight on the 16th November.
