Charity Lap Dancing at Edinburgh’s Burke and Hare

Well-known Edinburgh strip club tries out an unusual way of fundraising.

Yesterday saw the city’s  first charity lap dancing afternoon at the well known strip club “Burke and Hare”. The club is one of three similar establishments located in the West Port of Edinburgh with the collective nickname, “the pubic triangle”.

The girls were offering half price dances of just £5 in the hope of raising money for a seriously injured friend of the club. The price was said to be “a bargain”.

Would the original Burke and Hare be digging in their pockets to give to charity?

A spokesperson for the club promised, ” It certainly isn’t going to be your average Sunday afternoon tea and cake sale”.

The day offered a drink deals and a prize draw too!

The club attracted the punters in by ensuring the dances would be “guilt-free” as the money would be going to charity but this sparked some controversy in the Capital.

Jacq Kelly who is a street harassment prevention campaigner responded saying,  “This begs the question about why men would feel guilty about receiving a lap dance in the first place?

“Giving a few quid to charity may salve their conscience in the short term but if they feel guilty about visiting lap dancing clubs in the first place they should probably examine the choices they make.”
