With less than a month to go, this is who students in Edinburgh are voting for

The Labour Party are edging the polls when it comes to who students in Edinburgh are voting for in June’s snap General Election.

After 1.5k votes were collected from a sample of students studying at Edinburgh Uni, Napier, Heriot-Watt and Queen Margaret, Labour came out on top with thirty per cent of the vote.

The Conservatives unsurprisingly came in second with 26 per cent, with the SNP a close third on 21 per cent.

The Liberal Democrats seem to be bouncing back with the student population despite their tution fee rise fiasco, coming in with a decent 12 per cent of the vote, while the Green Party remains the fifth biggest party on a decent five per cent.

UKIP remain undetectable to the student population, gaining just 1 per cent of the vote.

Many students choose to vote in their home towns rather than in Edinburgh, which explains the number of votes for the DUP, Sinn Fein, Ulster Unionist and Plaid Cymru.

A small percentage of students stated that they had no intention of voting, but with just over a month to go everything can change.
