Royal Mile voted prettiest street in Scotland

And second prettiest in the UK

Edinburgh’s Royal Mile has been voted the prettiest street in Scotland, and the second prettiest in the UK.

The survey, conducted by National Express, polled 1,000 people across the UK in aims of inspiring people to visit somewhere new.

The Royal Mile was the only street in Scotland to make it to the top fifteen, and was beaten to first place by The Shambles in York.

The Mile managed to beat Gold Hill in Cambridge, Cecily Hill in Notting Hill, London and even The Circus in Bath.

It comes as no surprise as the street is one of the most instragrammed locations in the city, stretching one Scots mile from Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood. It’s also the busiest tourist street in Edinburgh.
