Remnants of Hurricane Ophelia to hit Edinburgh tonight

Winds of more than 55 miles per hour are expected

The leftovers of what was Hurricane Ophelia are due to hit Edinburgh this evening from 10pm.

The storm has taken the lives of two people already in Ireland and has produced gusts of wind as strong as 109 miles per hour, cancelling all train journeys in the country.

Strong winds are expected to hit Edinburgh up until midday tomorrow when the weather is expected to die down.

The Met Office have issued an amber weather warning, saying that we could see road closures and power cuts. They also warned that there could be some minor damage to buildings with falling roof tiles being a possibility.
