There was an escaped prisoner on the loose in Newington yesterday

Exams are enough to stress about

A prisoner went missing yesterday in Edinburgh as he was being moved from a prison just outside of Falkirk to St Leonard's Police Station in Newington.

The nineteen year old Conlon Carr escaped from the G4S van that was transporting him shortly before midday. He was found two and half hours later in the Craigmillar Castle area.

Police presence could be seen around the city, particularly near Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat, with a helicopter deployed to aid the search.

The tunnel that runs under Pollock Halls was also inspected as the police desperately looked for the missing prisoner.

Willie Galloway, operations director G4S told the BBC: "A person in our care managed to escape from custody officers while being escorted back on to a prison vehicle and has now been re-apprehended.

"We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and will take appropriate action as required."
