Edinburgh has been voted the best place in the world to live if you’re young and broke.

In a report by MoveHub, Edinburgh came out on top with a score of 82.95 out of 100 for a combination of living costs, income and safety.

Among the factors taken into consideration, the study found that Edinburgh offers the highest density of cheap eats, with just over 84  cheap restaurants per 100,000 people.

The city also made the top 10 for the proportional cost of rent, ranking 9th, with monthly rent only taking up 32.5% of monthly income on average.

Overall, european cities dominated the top 10, with Edinburgh followed by Vienna, Berlin and Prague. Melbourne and Mumbai were the only non-european cities to make the cut.

In comparison, London sits in the bottom three with the most expensive public transport, 5th highest monthly rent and a low safety index score.

MoveHub, an organisation which promotes moving abroad, used data from Deutsche Bank, Numbeo, Expatistan, TripAdvisor and the UN to analyse over thirty cities across the globe.
