There’s a new hummus cafe opening in Potterrow next month

It’s 100 per cent vegan

Yorkshire-born hummus and pitta restaurant Humpit will be launching its first Scottish chain in Potterrow on the 7th February.

The chain was launched in Leeds back in 2014, and since then has expanded to open three more sites in Sheffield, Newcastle and York. It was even awarded the "Best Street Food Start Up" prize by Richard Branson back in 2015.

Humpit told The Edinburgh Tab: "We always wanted to open up a store in Edinburgh, as the city has amazing vibes and is heavily student populated. Our growth model is based on expanding sites at universities, so finding a place at Edinburgh Uni ticked all the right boxes."

You can get hummus bowls, filled pita and salad bowls from just £4.50 with a wide range of toppings such as falafel, mixed salad and pickles. Their website confirms that gluten free is available, and the cafe is also totally vegan – so goodbye student loan, hello hummus.
