Edinburgh Uni is the sixth best university in the UK, according to new global rankings.

Yesterday the Times Higher Education (THE) published the 2020 edition of the renowned World University Rankings.

Currently in its 16th year, the study sees over 1,300 institutions worldwide analysed and then ranked to produce a comprehensive and detailed ranking of universities.

The University of Oxford topped the table whilst its rival Cambridge closely followed in 3rd position.

Other top performing UK universities were Imperial College London (10th), UCL (15th) and LSE (=27th).

Edinburgh Uni was ranked at 30, which means it beat some of the top universities in the UK, such as KCL (=36th), Warwick (77th), Bristol (87th), Glasgow (=99th), Durham (113th) and Exeter (=146th).

Edinburgh came in at an impressive 30th place

Out of a possible 100 points, Edinburgh scored 79.4 overall, with the breakdown consisting of a 67.3 in teaching, 74.1 in research, 96.4 in citations, 39.9 in industry income and 93.8 in international outlook.

The study also revealed Edinburgh has a total of 29,433 FTE students, with 12.8 students per member of staff. 41% are international, and the ratio of females to men as 60:40.
