Bogus ‘Union’ worker knocking on doors in Hyde Park
A man claiming to work for LUU has been trying to enter student houses
There have been reports of a man claiming to work for Leeds University Union trying to get inside houses in the Hyde Park area.
Today at 12:06pm a man was seen acting suspiciously and knocking on doors on Hyde Park Close.
Leeds University student Emma Hilton tweeted that an unknown man tried to enter her house after claiming he worked for the union.
When asked if he could prove that he did indeed work for the University he was unable to explain himself and quickly left the area.
Although the police were called and a search was made, the individual in question was not found.
More reports were made of similar cases around the Headingley Rise area at 2:10pm
The male has been described as afro-carribean, around 20 years old and 5ft 10 with a lanyard around his neck (thought to be fake identification).
Police have told the Tab they are taking these reports “very seriously,” though searches of the area have been unsuccessful.
They added: “If anyone has any further information which will assist us, contact us via Crimestoppers anonymously or the 101 helpline.”
