Spotify can now tell if you found an artist first

Emily WillsonMusic streaming service Spotify has launched a brand new feature that tells you if you heard about the next big artist before they were cool.
The “Found Them First” feature identifies artist you have on your playlists who have now gone mainstream, meaning Hyde Park DJs can now verify their bragging rights.
The site scans your listening history and tells you if you were an “early listener” of any up-and-coming musicians.
These are identified as acts that have received over 20 million total streams, as well as a growth rate of 2000 per cent or more between 2013 and 2015.
It’s not clear what artists have made the definite list, but Spotify have said only the “top 1-15 percent of listeners are considered ‘early listeners’ and will be able to see this ranking.”
But don’t worry – if you’re too mainstream they’ll offer you a new playlist which you can boast about to your friends in James Baillie.
We won’t tell if you don’t.
