The ultimate bucket list every Leeds fresher needs to complete

You’ve got work to do

Your first week of university will no doubt involve a lot of boring tasks such as being introduced to your course and the work you'll be leaving to the last minute for the rest of the year – but you are a fresher after all and you don't want to let this time slip away. If you want to make the most of your freshers week you'll have to put the work in to ensure you get the very best freshers experience, to help guide you on your first week here is the ultimate freshers bucket list.

Drink (a lot)

It's an almost boring stereotype that freshers and students in general enjoy their drink – but it just so happens to be true. Your freshers week is the perfect excuse to drink to your hearts content (responsibly of course) and not feel ashamed about your awful decisions the morning after. The benefit of drinking like a fish during your first week is that your dutch courage will no doubt give you the confidence to mingle with your new uni mates, just don't take it too far, nobody likes to make a bad first impression.

Attend everything

If you really want to get stuck in during freshers you don't want to miss out on a freshers wristband, these babies get you into every single event and it's important you show up to absolutely everything. Whether it's Fruity on Friday night or a student bake off, attendance is a necessity – you only get one freshers week.

Make friends with everyone

Spoiler alert, not everyone you speak to on your first day of uni is your soulmate. Freshers week can be a scary time, especially when it comes to the prospect of making new friends, so the key is to make friends with literally everyone you come into contact with during your first week – you may never see or speak to most of them again, but it makes freshers a hell of a lot more fun.

Dress up

Other than Halloween, freshers week is the perfect excuse to take on the Otley run (or Headingley mile) dressed up as an absolute fool. It's a right of passage in your first week to complete this legendary pub crawl in ridiculous fancy dress, just don't be the bore that shows up without a costume.

Get with everyone

One thing you have to take advantage of during freshers week are the new romantic prospects, you're meeting a tonne of new people so you're bound to find someone for you. Just be careful who you end up getting with in Canal Mills at 3am, you'll most likely end up bumping into them a few hours later in the Laidlaw.

Steal a traffic cone

For some reason, this has become a freshers week pastime. At some point during your first week you'll either wake up to a traffic cone in your accommodation or hear about somebody else stealing one. Of course theft in any form is not encouraged, but if there's a time to do this it's during freshers.
