A Leeds graduate has a condition of an unknown cause that is affecting her brain. A GoFundMe page has been set up by her friends are she is in desperate need of further diagnostic testing and treatment.

Fredi Newman, who graduated in Theatre and Performance from Leeds in 2015, became ill while travelling in Cambodia with some friends. The treatment she requires for the rare condition can only be received in Thailand.

Her insurance will not cover the costs of either her stay in the Cambodian hospital, or her move to Thailand, and she cannot be moved until her outstanding medical bills, and the cost of the air ambulance, have been paid.

Shannon Finnigan, a friend of Fredi's and also a Leeds graduate, has started the GoFundMe page in a bid to get donations to cover these costs, which can be found here.

The two girls, along with another friend, were travelling around Asia on what was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime as a reunion, having not seen each other for nearly two years.

They have also been in contact with the British Embassy, and have requested people do not hesitate to get in contact with either Fredi's family or Shannon if they can help in any way.
