We spoke to the people who took part in Leeds RAG Take Me Out
Let the Eddy, see the B
Leeds RAG has taken on everybody's favourite dating show 'Take Me Out', which will see 8 single guys attempting to win a date with one of the 23 single girls in the Riley Smith Theatre this Friday evening. The only difference between the Leeds RAG Take me Out and the original show, is that though it is lacking the island of Fernando, all of the proceeds are going to local charity 'The Community Fund'. We spoke to two of the hopeful singletons, to see how they really feel about taking part in Leeds' twist on the iconic show.

What made you apply for RAG Take Me Out?
I got dragged into being one of the girls last year, and surprisingly it was so much fun, I even dated the guy I matched with for a while. But, after a lot of blood, sweat and tears (not mine), last years love didn't go my way (or his). After my appearance on Leeds RAG Take Me Out, my friends decided to enrol me in The Tab's 'Leeds Finest Singleton', in another bid to find love, but that didn't go to plan either. I decided to take matters into my own hands and applied to be on the RAG committee as one of the event managers. As well as being a part of Leeds RAG Fashion Show and First Dates, I have helped organise the event on Friday (which gives me inside knowledge to the boys) which I hope runs in my favour.
How far will the set up resemble the TV show?
Well, we have our own Paddy McGuinness (the lovely Harvey McMillan). The boys will have their own videos featuring their friends (and some parents) as well as showing a talent this year. We have 8 boys and 23 girls, but instead of turning off their buzzers like in the TV show, they'll have to pop balloons to take them out of the game.
What are you most excited for?
I'm super excited to see the boys videos. Although I've been a part of organising this event, I haven't been a part of the video making with the boys, but I am so excited to see them.
Why would you encourage people to get involved with Take Me Out?
It's going to be such a funny event. Our girls are all gorgeous (not being biased) and our boys are so charismatic and hilarious (and not bad looking either). It's on a Friday too, so definitely come down pre Terrace and Fruity. Oh, and of course it's all for a good cause. We have a raffle on the night too, with left over donations from the restaurants our dates will be going to (we have Browns, Meat Liquor and Revs, just to name a few). If anything, you should just come down to support the boys and girls who are risking their social status for your enjoyment.

What made you apply for RAG Take Me Out?
I wouldn't quite use the term applied, instead asked or forced to participate. Having said that, who am I to turn down an opportunity to embarrass myself in front of a large group of people? Also, who am I to turn down the opportunity to find love, and where else best to find love that on Take Me Out? I think it's fair to say, what guy wouldn't want to stroll out in front of 23 real life females to Kevin Lyttle's 'Turn Me On' and down a few VK's, before landing a date and a cheeky meal at Nandino's. Despite risking a blackout, which would no doubt dent the opportunity to support Leeds RAG and the great charities they are fundraising for through Take Me Out and thus was more than happy to get involved.
What are you most excited for?
Bar the obvious apprehension of getting a blackout and walking off stage alone, which obviously won't happen, I think it's fair to say I'm most excited about seeing everyone's talents and videos, as well as the girls responses to the questions we have to ask, especially mine.
Why would you encourage people to get involved in RAG Take Me Out?
Don't ask silly questions. Why would you not want to get involved with RAG Take Me Out? You are supporting charity, embarrassing yourself, meeting new people and having a laugh (and a Nandos meal).
