hurry down and get your trim

GambleAware are offering free trims to male students willing to have a chat about their betting habits. The #BetRegret barber shop is on Leeds University campus today opposite the union. But what is Bet Regret?

"Bet Regret (noun) – the sinking feeling you get the minute you make a bet without thinking it through. Often when chasing losses, bored or inebriated."

In a lecture, after a beer or when you're bored – these are the times when a quick bet may result in bet regret.

The Barbershop will be visiting several universities, with research conducted by the Gambling Commission revealing that 1.2 million students in the UK gamble, two in three have gambled in the past month and one in four student gamblers bet more than they can afford.

The barbershop tour is part of a major campaign targeting young men, the group at highest risk, 92% of whom go to the barbers at least once a month

GambleAware are encouraging more responsible betting habits through this campaign. In a time when placing a bet is as easy as downloading an app, their tips and tools on responsible betting behaviour can really help. Setting limits, noting down spending and setting timers are all tactics suggested to ward away the feelings of Bet Regret.
