A vigil for Sabina Nessa will be held in Leeds this evening
It’ll take place on the Parkinson Steps at 6pm
Ella BuckleyA vigil is to be held in Leeds this evening for Sabina Nessa, the 28-year-old teacher who was found dead in London this month.
The vigil, organised by Leeds FemSoc and Reclaim The Night, will take place on Parkinson’s Steps this evening at 6-7pm and will also be live streamed for anyone who cannot attend. Organisers have asked for attendees to wear masks where possible.
An Instagram post by Leeds FemSoc announcing the vigil reads: “We are horrified by the murder of Sabina Nessa. Her death is reflective of the unchanging misogyny and male violence that our society continuously allows to happen.
“It is also apparent that the media reaction to Sabina Nessa’s death has been on a much lower scale than previous cases. Misogyny happens to women of every colour, race and ethnicity. There is no place for such explicit bias.”
