Hundreds miss out on UCLU Ski Trip

| UPDATED

Angry snow bunnies were left out in the cold last week as this year’s UCLU ski trip was hit by a demand-shaped freight train. The event sold out in less than 24 hours and additional places were quickly snapped up last Sunday.

Just 265 lucky UCLer’s will be gracing the slopes this year and many have been left disappointed after the £359 per head adventure simply couldn’t keep up with the clamour for tickets by students.

No room at the inn?

This year’s trip, which will be held in Val D’isere, sold out much faster than last time around, with the initial batch of tickets selling out in just under a day. The demand was such that the society booked another round of 150 tickets at another complex, which sold out in just twenty minutes to those who had signed up on a reserve list.

On their Facebook page the society apologised to avid skiers, posting:

“UCLU Snowsports Val d’Isere trip is now sold out. Sorry to everyone who didn’t get on. It took us 20 minutes to sell all of our extra beds.”

Julie Chemla, a second year student of Russian and History who missed out on a place said:

“Unfortunately I didn’t manage to book on the first round of tickets for the trip, and as I was rushing home to book onto the second round, my friend told me that he had just tried and it had already sold out. FML.”

However every cloud  has a silver lining. Those who were unlucky enough to miss out have been granted a reprieve, as the group announced that they would be emailing people about an Easter ski trip in light of the “unprecedented demand” for this years’ trip.
