Winter Make-up Trends

Winter is such a great season to play around with make-up; darker shades that you might not want to sport during the warmer months finally find a place on your face while browns, golds and crimsons come into play, mimicking nature’s colour palette.

Bold Berry and Red Lips

What better hue to apply to your lips during the frostier months than refreshing reds, oxblood and berries? So perfectly autumnal!

Pairing these shades with bare eyes, or just a touch of mascara keeps the look crisp and effortless.

However, if you don’t feel like wearing a full-on red lip you could apply the lipstick, then blot it off delicately with tissue and hey presto you’ve got yourself a sultry stain.

Girlies, a little tip – a bright lip colour deflects attention away from those hung over eyes!

Snow White flush

For these very natural-looking rosy cheeks, select a blush that suits your skin tone – pinch your cheeks to get an idea of the shade that would suit you best. Smile to accentuate the apples of your cheeks, apply the product here and get blending!

Falling leaves eyes

For a golden-brown smokey eye use a gold colour all over your eyelid and under your lower lashes, and apply a darker brown to your crease for definition.

My recommendations for eye shadows are the Urban Decay Naked palette, or for a more budget friendly selection of colours, MUA’s Heaven and Earth palette. Body Shop’s shimmer blocks also do the job!

Who doesn’t love a good cat eye? This look is classic and timeless. Just imitate the natural shape of your eye and to create the flick, follow an invisible line from your waterline to the end of your eyebrow to direct which angle your flick should take. It takes some practice but it is definitely worth it in the end.

The look can be achieved with black eye shadow and an angled brush, or a liquid, pen or gel eyeliner.
