Woody Grill owner fined £30,000 following hygiene offences

It’s following ‘dirty’ conditions in one of the branches

The owner of Woody Grill, who owns six restaurants across the capital, has been fined over £30,000 after the Hammersmith and Fulham council discovered a vast array of hygiene offences at the Shepherd’s Bush branch.

The Turkish owners pleaded guilty in court following accusations of dirty food preparation surfaces, chopping boards and fridge door handles in the kitchen, alongside a failure to separate cooked food from raw food, and animal droppings found in the back without any evidence of an attempt to sort out the issue.

Cllr Wesley Harcourt, a Hammersmith and Fulham cabinet member for environment, told The Standard: “When customers eat out the very least they can expect is food that doesn’t make them ill.

“And these failings are also unfair on the vast majority of businesses who invest properly in proper hygiene standards to keep residents safe.

“This heavy fine should serve as an indication of just how determined we are to stop restaurant owners motivated solely by financial gain cutting corners and selling dangerous food to the residents of Hammersmith and Fulham.”

The Woody Grill’s affected are not affiliated with either of the Camden branches of the same name.
