It has been revealed today that the Black Eyed Peas have pulled out of a Michael Jackson tribute concert which they were due to headline this Saturday. Just 72 hours before the long-awaited “Michael Forever” is scheduled to hit the stage at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium, the US group announced that they would not be able to make it due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’.

Rumours concerning an indefinite hiatus have been circulating since July last year, when Fergie announced to an audience at Alton Towers:

the upcoming performance is “very special” as it’s the “last time we’re going to be in England for a long time”

…Why they were performing at a theme park I do not know; things really must have been going downhill.

Anxiety heightened further for BEP lovers last month at the Austin City Limits music festival, when Kanye West was joined on stage by Fergie to perform their latest hit, ‘All of the Lights’. At the end of the song, Kanye shouted into his mic:

“Rest in peace to the Black Eyed Peas. You’re gonna be missed.”

Will.I.Am was quick to assure his confused and heartbroken fans that the group is not splitting up for good, as he tweeted “maybe @kanyewest was stating the fact that we will take a rest for a little bit… but we the @bep will never die…never…impossible.”

So word on the street is that after selling over 56 million records as a group, Will.I.Am, Fergie, Aple.de.ap and Taboo are ‘taking a break’ to pursue their individual pea projects.

Fergie and her 'humps' will certainly be missed

Will.I.Am does not deny allegations that he is working on a solo album, Black Einstein, but he continues to comfort fans with some really inspiring words…

“The bep will take a break after the beginning…just like we did from monkey business to the e.n.d…but it doesn’t mean we stop creating.”

So just one question remains: who are we going to turn to for our fix of electro-pumping, auto-tuned “party jams” whilst we wait for the Black Eyed Peas to make their inevitable comeback?
