It has been confirmed that SUSU’s Equality and Diversity officer Amanda Li has resigned from her position.

Li Li became a Tab favourite from the start with her 60 word manifesto, within which she described herself as “warm, nice and reliable”, but there were concerns she had even less understanding of the role than she did of basic English grammar.

Li’s unopposed election to the trustee board with 64% of the votes came despite many arguing the case for RON and was seen as a sign of growing election apathy. A by-election was mooted to take place, but with full union elections nearing was decided that the position will be left temporarily vacant, so Tab readers eager to run for the role will have to wait.

A question had been raised over her attendance at December’s meeting of Union Council where Amanda (Li Li) declared she had “too many meetings” and was in any case busy with the Chinese Student Society. All of SUSU officers’ meeting attendance is logged and at present, Li has only been to eight of the required 41 meetings. 21 meetings have seen no apologies for absence.

SUSU’s VP Welfare and Communities,Chloe Green, herself former Equality and Diversity officer, says on the matter:

I’d like to thank Amanda for all of her efforts up until now and wish her all the best for the future.”

Nominations for this and other SUSU positions open on February 9th.
