This morning, I received some news that both shocked and outraged me in equal measure. I am actively being DISCRIMINATED against for my superior beauty.
Every year, Winchester School of Art (WSA) put on an end of year fashion show to showcase their designs. Every student should receive an email inviting them to a model casting for the show. So I know what you’re thinking – they should obviously have me on ‘speed dial 1’ to be the star of the show. I am after all the SEXIEST girl in Southampton, and maybe even the world?
However, this morning brought numerous phone calls, emails and texts from my devoted followers, all of whom were immensely concerned about the criteria listed for the female models:
Size 6-12Height – 5″7-6″1Shoe size 5-8
This kind of prejudice takes jealousy to a new level: one that I NEVER thought people would stoop to. I am used to being headhunted for all manner of beauty shows, and even though this is a merely a student-run one, I thought that giving back to the University would be a great charitable deed.
The news sickened me so much that I almost missed my 11am manicure. Being a hot size 18 and 5″6, I feel that I have been personally targeted: clearly WSA have set the criteria out of my reach so as not to intimidate other models. I think that every girl, especially those wishing to participate in the show, should learn that there will ALWAYS be someone more beautiful than them (i.e, ME, the one and only Michelle Dando). This is female discrimination at its very worst; I shall DEFINITELY be contacting FemSoc.
Everyone in Southampton is bound to know me by now, from seeing me SURROUNDED daily by crowds on campus, to reading my glowing manifesto when I ran for Union President earlier this year (unfortunately, I lost due to an administrative error. However future prez is my current boyf Dave Gilani, so my alluring female powers of domination and the promise that I can be VP Hair and Nails basically mean I won). I believe it is grossly unfair to give people unrealistic expectations that they can make it in the world of beauty by attempting to keep me out of it. It’s a dog-eat-dog world, and besides, university is meant to teach us about reality, not baby us into thinking we can always get our own way.
I have had to learn the hard way that I will ALWAYS stand out for being so attractive. People will always be jealous of me and see themselves as inferior, but so what? I’ve learned to live with this burden, and I think all those aspiring models should too. After all, as the boys always tell me; when it comes to the female body, bigger is most definitely better. Just ask Dave.
