After last year‘s roaring success the Christmas Lights Switch On will be returning this year, once again filling campus with festive cheer.

The lights on the ‘intercourse’ last year

Date: Friday 29th November

Location: The Redbrick and Intercourse

The evening starts with the Christmas market on the redbrick at 4pm where you can stock up on festive goodies to dish out on Christmas Day. Then the main event, the lights switch on (not the free booze), is at 6pm and live music continues till 7pm.

Free booze I hear you say…yes! Along with free entry, every guest is also entitled to a complimentary drink, in order to receive it you must register for the event here, print off your ticket and exchange it at one of the drink outlets on campus. Complimentary drinks are restricted to one per person and there is a limited supply available so make sure you register in plenty of time and arrive promptly on the day.

The lights will be switched on by Pro Vice-Chancellor, Mark Spearing, and the Enactus student team on the green area in front of building 40 (more commonly known as the intercourse).

Lights on campus last year

Last year there was mulled wine, mince pies and doughnuts along with a raffle, a choir and even Surge. I’m sure the University will pull out all the stops again this year for another great evening.

The event is for both staff and students of the University of Southampton; the Facebook event can be found here.
